Join NJFDW for the PEG ROBERTS Volunteer Awards

Honoring one outstanding woman whose dedication and mentorship reflect the spirit of Peg Roberts.

Nominee criteria:

• Member in good standing of a chapter or caucus
• Minimum of ten years of active involvement in the Democratic Party
• Has not held federal, state, county, or municipal office (except County Committee)
• Demonstrated commitment to mentoring emerging Democratic leaders
• Formally nominated by her County Chapter with supporting documentation from the County Chair and/or elected officials

 The Outstanding Elected Official Award recognizes one exceptional elected official from each of New Jersey’s three regions—North, Central, and South—whose leadership advances Democratic values and strengthens communities across our state.  This recognition honors elected officials who demonstrate outstanding service, integrity, and commitment to Democratic principles in their public roles.

Nominee Criteria

• Must currently hold or have previously held elected office at the municipal, county, state, or federal level
• Must be a member in good standing of a County Chapter
• County Chapter Presidents are encouraged to consult with their County Democratic Chair when possible

Regional Definitions

• North Region: Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union, and Warren Counties
• Central Region: Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, and Somerset Counties
• South Region: Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem Counties

To ensure statewide representation and a fair, inclusive selection process, County Chapter Presidents within each region are expected to collaborate with one another to identify and agree upon a single nominee for their region. This cooperative approach reflects NJFDW’s commitment to unity, shared leadership, and equitable representation across all 21 counties.

Honoring a woman whose career reflects the legacy of Senator Loretta Weinberg—nearly 30 years of public service and unwavering commitment to gender equity.

Selection criteria include:

• Service to the people of New Jersey in an elected capacity
• Contributions to major gender‑related legislation
• Sustained job performance of 15+ years
• Significant legislative accomplishments, projects, or initiatives that exceed expectations
